As anticipated, the McPhillamys Gold Project has also been referred to the Independent Planning Commission (IPC), by the NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, the Hon Rob Stokes, MP, for determination.

In referring the project to the IPC, the minister requested that the IPC hold a public hearing, paying particular attention to the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) Assessment Report; key issues raised during the public hearing; and any other relevant information.
